First day with Mylar

Saturday Marcello pointed me to Mylar,

Since we are using Jira and CVS, this morning I’ve installed [...]

Wicket-javaee moved to Wicket-Stuff

As I mentioned in the previous post, since someone has expressed his interest in my wicket-javaEE integration module, it has been moved to the Wicket-Stuff project.
So, the official SVN repository for this module is now:

https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/wicket-stuff/trunk/wicket-contrib-javaee

To checkout a fresh copy of the module, simply type

svn co https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/wicket-stuff/trunk/wicket-contrib-javaee

At the moment, the documentation is still available here, where [...]

Java EE annotations support in Wicket

My latest passions (in IT terms, obviously ), are Java EE 5 and Wicket. The first, because it is really a huge simplification over the previous versions of J2EE, and offers a lot of new powerful functionalities to quickly build enterprise applications; the second, because it allows to create nice web pages also to server-side [...]

Todolist post-Javapolis

Every time I attend a great conference like Javapolis I end up writing a long todo list of cool things to investigate… a list that (sadly) gets always lost in the space of some weeks… So, without any further esitation, that’s the list for Javapolis 2006

XFire. I used XFire last year, when it [...]

Javapolis wrap-up

I’ve just come back from Antwerpen, so it’s time for a brief wrap-up, since I’ve had no time to blog during the week.
The conference was, as usual, excellent, with an impressive roster of speakers and the usual good organization; however, differently from the previous years (it’s my third time at javapolis since 2004), I’ve spent [...]

I’ll fly to Belgium with a good group of other italian guys on Tuesday. If you are in the area, leave a comment or email me! It’s my forth time in [...]

Java EE in the trenches - Embedded entities for Dummies

Working with ORM tools (like Java EE 5 Java Persistence API or Hibernate) and legacy database schemas is always a interesting (and often challenging) experience. In these situations, mapping an overgrown, denormalized database in an object oriented domain model requires a lot of work, a good knowledge of the ORM tool and some compromises…

With Java [...]

Interesting alternatives to Hibernate

In these days the Wicket-user mailing list is animated by a very active discussion about which framework could be a good alternative to Hibernate. Being an Hibernate supporter, I’m always quite surprised by the number of people who have used it and eventually decided to switch to other frameworks.
Anyway, here’s a list of alternative solutions:
