The unexpected switch

If you know me, you probably know I am (was?) a proud Ubuntu user, and that I was used to make jokes about all the hype around Macs, Steve Jobs and the like, especially with all my colleagues (and I mean… really all of them) who had all sort of problems with the first batch of MacBook Pro arrived this summer.
Well, last Friday, while I was in Sourcesense for a meeting with Jonas Boner, Gianugo tempted me with a sentence like: “oh, and I have this macbook pro for you, but I know you aren’t an Apple fan, so I’ll probably give it to someone else….”

Oh well, what I was supposed to do? I simply couldn’t hide my geekness, and I took it, of course.

I have to admit that the first impact was quite scary (it reminded me when I hit the first, text-only, Linux distro back in 1995), since everything is different from Linux and Windows, so I had to struggle (and ask for help) a bit to understand how to do the most basic things. But now I’m much more confident, and ready to test it to do some real stuff.
And, I can assure you, I’ll be merciless ;-)

You know that you can always install Ubuntu on your Macbook Pro ;-) I have Ubuntu running on my iBook, Titanbook, Mac mini G4 and now on my Macbook.
